Every Friday, thousands of people all over Victoria venture outdoors in search of rocks. What makes the stones so special? They’re part of popular activity called Flex it Friday. If you’re lucky enough to find one, you could win big.
How does it work?
A new “rock” containing a cash prize is hidden somewhere in the Greater Victoria area. Each rock is sponsored by a local business. Prizes usually range between $50 – $250.
A Code Word is then shared with over 6,000 members of the FlexitFriday Facebook Group known as Stone Hounds. When the Code Word is entered into the Flex it Friday website, a photo of the rock’s location is revealed. The first person to find the rock wins the prize. A bonus gift is awarded to the first person to post a selfie from the location the rock was found.
Jani-King Joins Growing List of Rock Sponsors
“Jani-King of Vancouver Island is excited to be a Flex it Friday sponsor. We believe that in these times it’s imperative for us to get out, get our exercise and have purpose,” says Chris Westlake, Regional Director of Jani-King of Vancouver Island.
“We feel that as an established company to give back to the community in anyway we can is so important, and we are happy to do it. It’s not always about getting a new customer or franchisee, it’s about community and that’s what is going to help us all collectively make it though the toughest couples years in our lifetimes.”
Flex it Friday was created by local resident Brian Watters to support a healthy lifestyle and promote local businesses in the community. For more information about how it works or to become a rock sponsor, visit flexitfriday.com
