Are you looking to keep it clean in 2024? Do your New Year’s resolutions include cleanliness or healthy habits? If you haven’t decided yet, take a look at some of these trends in cleaning in 2024 for inspiration!
#1. “Non-Emergency” Deep Disinfecting
We all remember the days of “emergency response” disinfecting; employees and guests with positive tests, masks, electrostatic disinfecting machines…. Luckily, it seems that we have left those activities to years past. We have, however, noticed quite the uptick in other contagious illnesses over past year, and it might be time to reimplement a slightly enhanced level of disinfecting on a regular basis.
While electrostatic spraying is still the ideal solution for outbreak disinfecting, a full wipe down of high-touch surfaces on a regular basis can play a huge role in reducing transmission of diseases. Regular cleaning can maintain surfaces like desks, counters, floors and washrooms, but how often are you disinfecting these other key areas?
-
-
- Light switches, which are frequently touched by multiple people daily
- Door frames, where people tend to lean and chat
- Door knobs/handles
- Faucet taps/water cooler handles
- Appliance handles
- Office equipment including computer mice, keyboards, phone receivers, TV remotes and photocopiers
-
Having a regular disinfecting program for these areas can keep your staff, clients and guests healthy throughout the year. Schedule in advance to avoid outbreaks before they happen!
#2. The Improved Construction Site Office/Washroom Experience
Retaining talent in construction management and keeping trades happy so they can work effectively and efficiently are top priority in the construction world. In recent years, a significant movement has been made from the old run-down site trailer and porta-potty, to renovated temporary offices and full washroom trailers. Construction Managers and trades are investing heavily in creating a better experience for their on-site employees, but without proper maintenance, these investments can fall short of their goals.
Light-use site trailers tend to be cleaned fully at least once per week, while busier site offices (and security trailers) can benefit from daily cleaning. When temporary washrooms are involved, we’ve all experienced the “several days since proper cleaning” situation, and the current labour market doesn’t appreciate the neglect. In all situations, we recommend (and sometimes the law requires) a full cleaning and disinfecting daily.
#3. The Reemergence of Waxed Floors
It’s a tough life being a floor. You get walked all over, furniture dragged across you, covered in salt all winter, and for the last few years, your maintenance budget was taken away and given to the disinfecting department. There is a shine at the end of the tunnel, however, as 2023-24 has seen a return in stripping and waxing floors. Budgets have returned to normal, and dull floors are getting a makeover. If you have vinyl tile flooring, we can let you know what combination of stripping, scrubbing, waxing, buffing and burnishing will keep them looking their best!
