This weekend marks a significant milestone for Nova Scotia’s own Danny Chisholm as he prepares to make his debut in the NASCAR Canada Series. At just 19 years old, Chisholm is set to drive the #19 car for Wight Motorsports in the Clarington 200 at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (CTMP) in Bowmanville, Ontario, with Jani-King as his primary sponsor.
Reflecting on his upcoming debut, Chisholm expressed his elation, “This is a dream come true. We’ve worked long and hard to get here, and the excitement of finally racing in Canada’s premier stock car series is indescribable. I have so many people to thank who have helped me get to this point in my racing career. We had a great test at CTMP a couple of weeks ago; I can’t wait to hit the track this weekend and hopefully improve even more on the P8 spot where we finished the test.”
Chisholm’s impressive P8 finish in the NASCAR Canada Series pre-season test at CTMP, a challenging 3.957 km (2.459-mile) road course, showcased his prowess. Competing against seasoned veterans, this performance was a promising indicator of his potential in the series. Known for his expertise in road racing, Chisholm’s background includes a decade of racing experience starting from Bandoleros and go-karts to Legends Cars, where he has won multiple championships in Canada and the United States. His adaptability and skill on the track were further evidenced by a remarkable third-place finish in his first full-bodied, full-size pro stock/late model stock car race in 2023.
The journey to the NASCAR Canada Series has been a family affair, with Danny and his father, Scott Chisholm, actively working to secure the necessary partnerships and support. Their efforts paid off, bringing onboard Wight Motorsports and Jani-King for this pivotal race.
Nathan Oxford, Vice President of Jani-King Canada, shared his excitement, “On behalf of the Jani-King Canada team and our franchise partners coast-to-coast, we are excited to team up with Danny Chisholm for his NASCAR Canada debut. The partnership is about more than just racing; it’s about passion, commitment, and striving for excellence. All the best to Danny for a successful season.”
Echoing this sentiment, Evan Chu, Regional Director of Jani-King of Southern Ontario expressed, “This debut is not just a testament to Danny Chisholm’s talent and hard work but also highlights the support and dedication of his team. As he takes this significant step in his racing career, the motorsports community will be watching closely, eager to see how this promising young driver will make his mark in the NASCAR Canada Series.”
