The Capitol Theatre in Port Hope is more than just a performance venue — it’s a cherished historic landmark that has brought arts and culture to the community for generations. When our Cobourg-based Jani-King team was invited to refinish the theatre’s original terrazzo flooring, it was truly an honour to be part of preserving such an important piece of local history.
Located in the theatre’s original entrance, the antique terrazzo floor had seen decades of foot traffic from patrons, performers, and staff. While the character and craftsmanship of the floor remained unmistakable, time had taken its toll on the surface. Our team carefully refinished the terrazzo to restore its natural beauty while respecting the historic integrity of the space.
Terrazzo floors require specialized knowledge and attention to detail, especially in heritage buildings where preservation is just as important as appearance. By using the appropriate techniques and materials, we were able to enhance the floor’s durability and bring back its polished finish — ensuring it will continue to welcome visitors for years to come.
