On Friday, June 7th, the United Way of KFL&A hosted their annual Day of Caring. This inspiring event saw over 560 volunteers from 40 workplaces come together to support 44 local agencies across the Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox, and Addington (KFL&A) area.
The Day of Caring is a testament to the power of community spirit and collaboration. Volunteers from Jani-King of Eastern Ontario rolled up their sleeves and tackled various projects to enhance the AllSteps Child Care facility and its surroundings including:
-
-
- Window cleaning, inside and out
- Pressure washing chairs and outdoor toys
- Spreading woodchips under trees and on the playground
- Raking the grounds
- Removing stones from the front garden and planting flowers
-
Despite a forecast that threatened rain, the weather held off, allowing all planned activities to be completed. “The sight of so many individuals working together with enthusiasm and dedication was inspiring,” shares Jerry Silveira, Regional Director of Jani-King of Eastern Ontario. “The teamwork displayed was a reminder of what can be achieved when a community comes together for a common cause.”
The collective effort resulted in a remarkable transformation, making a lasting impact on the children and staff who use the facility daily. “We look forward to next year’s Day of Caring, with hopes of even greater participation and continued community support.”
